HP Indigo Technology Enables Litografia Bruni to Take Digital Printing In-House

Thursday 13. March 2008 - HP today announced that Litografia Bruni Srl has invested in an HP Indigo press 5500 to offer its customers a variable data and personalisation service and take its digital printing in-house.

Until the installation of its new HP Indigo press, the company outsourced its digital printing requirements. Litografia Bruni is using the press to break into new markets by offering customers a range of digital services to complement its lithographic work.

The company, based in Rome, was established in 1969 and specialises in the production of brochures, leaflets, catalogues, magazines and books for the pharmaceutical and corporate markets. The HP Indigo press 5500 is Litografia Bruni’s first digital press, and is being operated alongside the company’s six lithographic presses.

“Digital technology is not a competitor to conventional offset printing; on the contrary it is a strategic ally. Investing in an HP Indigo press 5500 has widened our business opportunities,” said Simone Bruni, manager, Litografia Bruni Srl. “We are promoting the benefits and advantages of digital production to our customers. We now offer our customers new services for short-run, variable data work. Having a digital press in-house has allowed us to become more flexible when meeting our customers’ requirements and enables us to produce a wider range of products.”

The HP Indigo press 5500 is ideal for companies, such as Litografia Bruni, that specialise in the production of printed items for the corporate market. The press utilises special and spot colour capabilities to accurately match brand colours and logos, allowing users to capitalise on new growth opportunities such as on-demand marketing collateral and personalised direct mail. Since installing its new press Litografia Bruni has experienced increased demand for customised, high-quality marketing collateral.

The HP Indigo press 5500 utilises HP’s ElectroInk liquid ink technology to produce offset quality print on a wide variety of applications consistently. The seven-colour press offers the widest possible colour gamut and uses HP Professional PANTONE Emulation technology to match up to 97 percent of the PANTONE colours.

“We had been thinking about investing in digital printing for years,” said Bruni. “But it was the unmatched print quality of HP Indigo technology that convinced us now was the right time to invest in a digital press. The quality of printing on our HP Indigo press 5500 is as high as the jobs we produce conventionally. Our customers have been very happy with the high standard of their digitally-produced print.”
