SGIA’s Upcoming Events Help You Make Profitable Decisions

Friday 22. February 2008 - Educational courses examine best printer technologies, use of special effects

Next month’s online Webinar and hands-on workshop are aimed at helping specialty imagers make the best production decisions for their company.
The Webinar, Making the Choice: What Kind of Printer and Print Technology is Right for Your Business (March 12), takes imagers through the pros and cons of the latest digital ink systems currently on the market.
With technologies including UV-curable, solvent, bio-solvent and eco-solvent, presenter Fernando Catania (Roland DGA Corp.) will examine each system’s applications, limitations and environmental considerations.
“Picking the right digital device for your company is a daunting task for anyone,” said Dan Marx, SGIA’s Vice President for Markets & Technologies. “This Webinar will better prepare potential buyers in making the most profitable and strategic decision.”
Additionally, SGIA’s workshop, Special Effects: Enhance Your Textile Prints (March 12-14), helps garment decorators determine how specials effects, such as high-density inks, gels, foil, glitter and rhinestones, can enhance their product quality and profit margins.
The hands-on workshop — located at SGIA’s state-of-the-art laboratory in its Fairfax, Virginia headquarters — mixes straightforward instruction with ample time for students to design and create prints using various special effects.
“With industry experts Charlie Taublieb (Taublieb Consulting) and Bob Wellen (Murakami Screen USA Inc.) at the helm, this workshop has increasingly become a prerequisite for companies interested in expanding their garment offerings,” said Johnny Shell, SGIA’s Vice President of Technical Service.
