The KBA Comet press line for Baku in Azerbaijan will roll into action this summer

A KBA Comet press line is scheduled to come on stream this summer on the shores of the Caspian Sea at The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Baku, the capital. The single-width press, comprising four four-high towers, two jaw folders and four reelstands, will bring full colour to many of the country’s daily titles.

The floor-mounted 75,000cph KBA Comet will have a 578mm (22¾in) cut-off on a web that will be variable in width from 700 to 1,000mm (27½ – 39½in), with 840mm (33in) as the standard. It will be configured with four Megtec AR70A reelstands embedded in a KBA Patras M reel-handling system. The four full-colour towers will have automatic ink pumping. Above the 2:3:3 KF 3B folders there will be two superstructures with a single former. The press line will be controlled from two KBA consoles with a diagnostics PC for remote maintenance. A complete training programme will be provided for the press crews.
