Ultimate Technographics Inc,, the market leading developer of automated digital imposition solutions and the inventor of digital imposition, is pleased to announce the release of version 2.0 of its acclaimed make ready solution, Ink Ready , an automated program for ink key pre-settings.
INK READY is a tool to take prepress digital plates to control ink density on the printing press.
Ink Ready does this for both presses that have digital connectivity (CIP3/4 PPF) and presses that do not. INK READY helps reduce make ready time significantly by generating a report showing the density of each key on a press from your file. Ink ready will read information from a PDF or PS file, and may output CIP4 PPF information, as well as a report in PDF format. INK READY takes the digital plate inbPDF or PS format and produces a PPF ink density data that can be exported to any color controlb console on a press that supports PPF, or it produces on screen, and as a printout, the ink densities of each ink zone, as defined by the user, for how many ink zones the press has.
“We have installed Ink Ready with several newspaper clients in the Caribbean and in Florida. All of them have immediately recognized the huge savings in time, in materials and in money.” explains Michael W. Wead, of Miami based Intergraph Corporation. “Ink Ready can be configured with hot folders and automate the make ready process for several presses at the same location. Most clients can measure the full ROI in only a few months.”
Intergraph Corporation will be demonstrating Ink Ready in booth 844 during Graphic Of the Americas.
Ink Ready 2.0 adds Global Value Adjustments for compensation for press mis-calibration.; enhanced report printing; multiple hot folders to support multiple presses; and support for Acrobat 8.
Ink Ready takes the digital plate in PDF or PS format and produces a PPF ink density data that can be exported to any color control console on a press that supports PPF, or it produces on screen, and as a printout, the ink densities of each ink zone, as defined by the user, for how many ink zones the press has.
Ink Ready works with digital plate files form any source and supports CMYK and spot colors. The preview can be composite or in separated layers.
Once you have dot gain values, Ink Ready will convert the percent coverage in an ink zone to the correct key settings and apply automatically dot gain compensation to assure the best starting point to reduce make ready time. This relationship, together with the zone coverage data will calculate the required setting for each key on each fountain. Because fountains are not identical, Ink Ready provides a means to account for these differences in the calculations.
“Ink Ready is a universal tool to bring the benefits of digital plate production to all kinds of printing presses,” explains David Watson, President of Ultimate, “not just new ones that have the latest prepress interface. Printers do not change their printing presses as often as they change software.”
