Thursday 21. February 2008 - Roland DG (UK) today announced details of the innovative wide format applications and technologies that it will showcase at Sign & Digital UK, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 22nd to 24th April, 2008.

The company will demonstrate how its proprietary, high quality wide format hardware, software, consumables and support deliver printed applications that give users a competitive advantage and the opportunity to develop new revenue streams.

Roland DG (UK), located on stand C40, will show the new SolJet PRO III XC-540W printer / cutter featuring Roland’s revolutionary Intelligent Pass Control technology – a combination of Roland’s VersaWorks RIP and printer firmware that doubles the XC-540’s productivity in standard print mode on vinyl. Roland DG’s Intelligent Pass Control precisely controls dot placement to enhance print quality in every print mode by creating even smoother gradations, flawless solid colours and no visible banding, while operating at the increased production speed.

The SolJet PRO III XC-540W is equipped with Roland’s new Eco-Sol Max white ink set (CMYK+W) and will produce a variety of printed products on stand such as vehicle wraps, graphics on transparent media, decorative window films, packaging comps, signs, labels, decals and point-of-purchase (POP) displays.

Roland DG (UK) managing director, Jerry Davies, said: “We will have our full range of wide format technologies on show at Sign & Digital UK with our focus on innovative, saleable applications. While the benefits of integrated printer / cutters are clear, in that they have smaller footprints and are more economical and productive than separate printer and cutter machines, customers are no longer simply interested in the relative merits of hardware alone. They want to know that the manufacturer they choose not only has the infrastructure and resources in place to give them a competitive advantage, but shares their creative vision to develop quality printed products.”

Roland DG (UK) will have experts on hand at Sign & Digital UK to discuss the benefits of its unique “closed-loop” system i.e. the company not only manufactures wide format hardware, but also the VersaWorks RIP software and inks.

“Without operating a wholly proprietary wide format solution we wouldn’t be able to provide customers with the advanced functionality, such as Roland Colour advanced spot colour matching, variable data printing, as well as Intelligent Pass Control technology. The fact that we manufacture everything allows us to control how the printer, software and ink operate to deliver a performance that’s far greater than the sum of the parts. The closed-loop system also enables us to provide, without charge to our customer, powerful, downloadable upgrades through our Value-Up initiative,” added Davies.

The company’s stand will be next to the Walsall College Theatre, which is running a series of seminars aimed at helping visitors improve productivity and grow their businesses. Roland DG (UK), in conjunction with Walsall College, operates the largest, industry-accredited sign, engraving and large format education facility in Europe from a purpose built facility at the college’s Walsall campus. The Roland Academy runs a range of courses in digital printing, engraving, RIPs and Adobe software packages, which have been developed by independent industry professionals.
