dsicmm Installs First Color InfoPrint 5000 in the UK

Friday 15. February 2008 - Replacing Pre-printed Financial Booklets with Personalized Customer Statements

InfoPrint Solutions, a joint venture between Ricoh and IBM, today announced that the UK’s largest direct communications company, has installed the first InfoPrint 5000 in the UK. This continuous forms production solution enables dsicmm to offer its customers cost effective, high speed, high volume, personalized, full color printing.

dsicmm is initially using the InfoPrint 5000 for an innovative statement production solution for a leading financial institution. The firm is increasing the variability of the statements and pre-printed reports it produces. Dynamically driven and created content is combined with fully personalized color A4 statement documents.

By making such high-speed, high volume, personalized applications affordable, the InfoPrint solution delivers a number of environmental benefits for dsicmm including a dramatic reduction on the number of printed pages, the introduction of recycled paper and reduced carbon footprint from the InfoPrint 5000’s low power consumption. As fewer pages are printed for each customer, postage costs are also reduced dramatically.

“Until now it has been impossible to accomplish this size and speed of job in digital color to the incredibly tight schedules that many financial institutions require,” said Dave Reynolds, managing director of print services at dsicmm. “The InfoPrint 5000 was the only solution currently available that can deliver the quality and speed we require at the right price point. I should also mention that we have been highly impressed with the level of service from the InfoPrint team.

“This addition to our portfolio is the latest stage in our regular investments to meet growing client needs. It means we have the very latest technology in conventional printing, lithographic, cut sheet and high speed digital color,” he continued. “Indeed, some of our existing work is being migrated to the new system to further enhance the service our customers receive.”

The InfoPrint 5000 will be integrated with an intelligent finishing system including Hunkeler guillotine and unwinding equipment, an MBO folder, and Hohner stitching unit.

“We’re delighted to be working with dsicmm on this innovative new transpromo application,” said Phil Self, InfoPrint Solutions UK managing director. “With the installation of the InfoPrint 5000, dsicmm is the first UK printer to be able to capitalize on high quality, high speed, full color variable data printing at a much lower price point than previously possible, and providing environmental benefits.”
