Peter Benton promoted to managing director role
Wednesday 13. February 2008 - Peter Benton has been promoted to the role of managing director of technotrans graphics only two years after being made operations director. Peter succeeds John Stacey who becomes chairman of the UK operation whilst retaining his directorship on the main board of technotrans, the international pressroom products supplier.
Peter Benton joined technotrans at its inception in the UK in 1991. Initially he was a service technician but he became increasingly involved in field and OEM sales. As operations director he has focused particularly on extending and enhancing the support services of technotrans, employing Paul Massey as service manager, increasing out of hours call desk back up and preventative support in the field.
“Robust equipment supported by reliable back up is what our customers want,” says Mr Benton. “My focus over the past two years has been on listening to customers and responding with effective solutions, which can mean supplying product through to changing our working practices to better meet todays market requirements.
“Needs are changing. Presses are getting faster, more automated, more complex and more flexible year on year. They represent very large capital sums and printers have to run them to maximum efficiency to justify that cost and make profit.
“It is great to be in a role where we work with press suppliers on developments which will enhance what printers produce and how they produce it whilst also selling retrofittable equipment which keeps us close to our market. I am very optimistic about the outlook for printing and offset. I think this year at drupa we will see again just what a vital and vibrant business we are in. We are all aware of the constant difficulties faced by printers, and as such the whole supply chain is affected. It is vital that technotrans continue to develop our products and the support services we offer, so that that our customers can focus on their business needs, knowing they have peace of mind when specifying technotrans equipment. “
