Bemis Elects Van Deursen to Board of Directors

Friday 01. February 2008 - The Board of Directors of Bemis Company, Inc. (NYSE: BMS) announced today that it has accepted the retirement of Nancy Parsons McDonald, a member of the Bemis Board of Directors since 1982.

Ms. McDonald is the great-granddaughter of Judson Moss Bemis, who founded the Company in 1858. The Board expressed its thanks and deep appreciation for her 25 years of dedicated service as a member of the Board of Directors and for her involvement in the Bemis Foundation.
The Board of Directors is also pleased to announce that Ms. Holly Van Deursen was elected to the Board of Directors of Bemis Company, Inc. at today’s Board of Directors meeting. Ms. Van Deursen was most recently an executive in the petrochemical industry and is currently a director of Anson Industries and Petroleum Geo-Services.

“Holly Van Deursen is a welcome addition to the Bemis Board,” said Jeff Curler, Bemis Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Her leadership experience and global industry expertise will be an asset to the board and we look forward to her participation.”

Ms. Van Deursen has held a variety of leadership positions at BP and Amoco Corporation in Chicago, London and Hong Kong. She was Group Vice President of the Chicago division of Petrochemicals for British Petroleum from 2003 to 2005, and Group Vice President of Strategy, based in London, from 2001 to 2003. Ms. Van Deursen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
