Cathay Forest Appoints Luc Perron as CFO

Tuesday 29. January 2008 - Cathay Forest Products Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CFZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Luc Perron as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Perron's position is effective immediately and he will be primarily working from Cathay's Toronto office.

Mr. Luc Perron is a Chartered Accountant and brings with him significant experience in senior finance roles within several industries. In addition to leading corporate finance and administration activities, Luc is experienced with securities regulatory reporting, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations. Mr. Perron has proven success in leading due diligence initiatives, process improvements and corporate transformations, and will provide solid guidance in matters of Corporate Governance to the Company. Mr. Perron holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from McMaster University in 1982.

Mr. Felix Tung, Cathay’s outgoing CFO will work with Mr. Perron for a brief transition period. The Company wishes to thank Mr. Tung for his valuable contributions to Cathay Forest during his time as CFO.
