Randall S. Brant Appointed Washington Times VP, Sales & Marketing

Wednesday 23. January 2008 - The Washington Times today announced the appointment of Randall S. Brant as vice president of sales and marketing. He brings to the newspaper more than 25 years of advertising and sales experience and a management background in strengthening sales operations and increasing revenues in a variety of corporate and media organizations.

“Randall is a strong addition to our sales and marketing team at The Washington Times,” said Thomas P. McDevitt, president of The Washington Times. “We are pleased to welcome someone to the newspaper with Randall’s outstanding level of accomplishment and expertise. I know that our advertising and marketing partners and clients will soon experience the benefits of his leadership in providing even more effective ways to reach their customers, constituents and stakeholders.”

Brant’s most recent position was vice president/advertising with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where he launched advertising initiatives that added new revenues in print and online categories. He also led the newspaper’s participation and sponsorship in the city’s first-ever DiverseCity Pittsburgh Festival.

Previously, he was senior vice president/advertising at the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, where he increased online, niche and community newspaper revenue. He also served as senior vice president/advertising for the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News and was display advertising director for the Dallas Morning News. He has also held senior management positions with newspapers in Denver, Honolulu, Indianapolis and San Antonio.

“I am very excited to join The Washington Times,” said Brant. “I look forward to building upon this team’s accomplishments, generating new revenue through multiple channels and aiding in the newspaper’s transition to an even more influential local, national and international news and information provider.”

Brant earned his BA in journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude, in 1981. He later earned his MBA from Purdue University.
