DuPont Names Nicholas Fanandakis as Group Vice President – DuPont Applied BioSciences

Tuesday 15. January 2008 - Company Accelerating Efforts to Commercialize Bio-Based Technologies to Meet Growing Global Demand

DuPont (NYSE:DD) has named Nicholas C. Fanandakis group vice president – DuPont Applied BioSciences. In this newly created position, Fanandakis will lead the company’s accelerated efforts to commercialize a range of bio-based products and technologies to meet growing global demand.

DuPont Applied BioSciences includes the following businesses: BioFuels, BioMaterials, BioSpecialties and BioMedical.

“Renewable energy, renewably sourced materials and other bio-based technologies are in high demand by the industries we serve,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer Thomas M. Connelly, Jr. “DuPont is in a strong leadership position with a robust pipeline of product candidates, many of which are the result of the focused application of our scientific capabilities beginning more than a decade ago. With three decades of business leadership experience, Nick will lead our accelerated charge to deliver these products to the global marketplace.”

Fanandakis, 51, currently vice president of planning, previously served four years as vice president and general manager of DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise. He has held a range of business leadership roles since joining the company in 1979.

William J. Harvey, 57, currently vice president – Corporate Operations, will succeed Fanandakis as vice president of planning.
