Colter & Peterson to put the accent on new and affordable at Graph Expo

Thursday 22. September 2016 - Graph Expo has a new home for this year, and Colter & Peterson (booth 2639) has affordable new products the marketplace is looking for. The compact, electronic Prism 73E - a 28" paper cutter - and the unique Microcut Cutter Control System will attract small, medium and large format printers and converters attending the show, set for September 25-28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Joining the newcomers will be proven winners. The Prism P92, a durable 36″ paper cutter, will be displayed with several versions of the Microcut back gauge retrofit kits. Microcut COLOR, Microcut JR and Microcut PLUS WS systems provide the gusto to make any new or used paper cutter between 20-150 inches in size more productive.

“The new Prism 73E is geared for the digital market. I think it will satisfy those people who have told me since Graph Expo last year that they wanted a versatile and affordable machine for lighter duty applications,” said Bruce Peterson, President of C&P.

“This machine has everything they need and it is priced under $20,000, which should make everyone happy. The cutter incorporates an electric knife/clamp drive and includes a Mitsubishi computer control package. The Prism line is known for its reliability and state-of-the-art design features, and the 73E will be no exception.”

Peterson said the clamp and knife drives make the Prism a very affordable paper cutter. Each Prism is supplied with new high speed steel knives known for their accuracy and toughness. They also have a higher grinding reserve that extends the life of the blade and reduces overall knife costs. The clamping system offers a wide range of pressure adjustments including a low minimum pressure that can’t be found on other paper cutters.
Peterson expects the Microcut Cutter Control system to win over new fans at Graph Expo. It made a sensational debut at drupa in June, with numerous customers around the world opting to use this system to retrofit their older paper cutters with a completely new control system. It is designed for customers with paper cutters ranging from 30-112 inches in size, and it creates a more stable work environment by bringing paper cutters up to modern electrical and safety standards.

The trio of computerized Microcut retrofit kits each help to improve productivity. They guide the back gauge blade into place to deliver highly accurate cuts within 1/64 of an inch and instantly recall the action for future trimming.

Microcut PLUS WS units are geared for larger operations with time-saving features such as microcip and microfacts. It uploads job information from a network connection or with a USB device using CIP 3/4 files, with no additional hardware or software required.

Microcut COLOR units are a good choice for medium size printers. They provide the same programming benefits as PLUS WS, minus the networking and CIP functions. Microcut JR units are great for shops with cutters on the small end – up to 37″ in size. Both the COLOR and JR units offer advanced programming options such as label and sheet divide to help simplify complicated jobs with only a few data entries.
