53 innovations nominated for the German Packaging Award 2015

Thursday 20. August 2015 - The jury awarded 53 innovative packaging solutions with a nomination for the 2015 German Packaging Award. Nearly 200 entrants from seven countries presented their work. The German Packaging Institute (dvi) is displaying all the nominees in an online gallery including picture and jury evaluation.

For Burkhard Lingenberg, Member of the Board of the dvi and person in charge of the German Packaging Award, this year’s competition once again shows “how cleverly, intelligently and consistently companies are working on packaging improvements. Sustainability, convenience and security for users and consumers alike, new technical processes and machinery, high-tech materials and sophisticated designs -the diversity and creativity shown by packaging companies in developing and implementing innovative ideas is truly fascinating.”

The innovations benefit e-commerce and branding, use raw materials which are not in competition with food, provide new features and technologies and reduce costs or increase security. “Many of the nominees’ solutions improve and reinvent packaging in more ways than one,” says Burkhard Lingenberg, who is delighted with the variety of materials at “the most important packaging industry event in Europe”. Among the nominees’ solutions you will find plastic, wood, glass, tinplate, aluminium, corrugated cardboard, cardboard, paper and composite materials.

The jury nominated a total of 53 entries from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Lichtenstein and the Netherlands. Nominated were innovations in: Display and promotional packaging (5); Labels, seals and other packaging aids (4); Beverages (5); Cosmetics and hygiene (5); Foodstuffs and pet food (9); Pharmaceutical and medical (3); Transport and logistics packaging (7); Other (7); Detergents, cleaning agents and cleansers (2); Packaging machinery (engineering and technology) (4) and Young Talent (3).

The festive announcement and awarding of the German Packaging Award 2015 winners will take place in the afternoon of 28 September 2015 at the opening of the FachPack in Nuremberg. The dvi invites all the participants and any interested parties to this “special packaging industry meet-up”.
