EXPERTISE TO GO: Bobst Meerbusch launches a new series of events for executives from the packaging industry

Wednesday 10. June 2015 - Under the theme 'EXPERTISE TO GO', Bobst Meerbusch has initiated a series of events designed to give executives from the packaging industry comprehensive knowledge of their processes with the help of in-depth sessions on specific subjects. The individual, very compact, events consist of one-day seminars with the nature of highly practice-oriented workshops. T

he first two events, at the beginning of 2015, gave the roughly twenty participants condensed expertise to take away on the subject of ‘Cutting-die makeready’ – both in theory and through practice on one of the flat-bed die-cutters installed at the BOBST Competence Center in Meerbusch. In view of the great demand and positive response to the première, BOBST repeated the event on three days in mid-April. Again, the feedback from the approximately sixty participants was decidedly positive. More EXPERTISE TO GO events are planned for the course of this year, addressing various topics, and geared primarily to customer requests. The content and dates will be announced by e-mail roughly four weeks in advance. The next events are scheduled to take place from 22 to 24 July 2015. The envisaged topic is ‘dynamic stripping’, which will be illustrated live on a die-cutter with the help of slow-motion technology.
In this way, the seminars give the executives ideas as to how they can improve the skills of their machine operators so that the latter can, for example, make more efficient use of the versatility of their machines. And they get to see how the performance of their machines and the quality of their products can be significantly improved, even by relatively simple techniques.
“There are many areas where businesses in the folding-carton and corrugated-board industries can set about optimizing their processes with only little effort and outlay. Our events primarily address executives, in order to show them concrete improvement options. They are familiar with the processes in their companies and are ultimately the ones who can adopt and implement sensible changes,” says Manfred Wöhning, Head of Technical Field Service and Application Technology at Bobst Meerbusch.
Given the ubiquitously prevailing pressure of time, BOBST has deliberately condensed the seminars into just a few hours, says Wöhning. “Although the time may be quite short, it’s long enough to demonstrate optimum processes. Sustainable changes in day-to-day production processes can only be achieved if people show the necessary willingness, and by means of intensive training measures. We support our customers in achieving these changes by offering a comprehensive training program.”
To preserve the workshop-style nature of the events, the number of participants is limited. The sales team and service staff of Bobst Meerbusch will be more than pleased to receive suggestions regarding topics for future EXPERTISE TO GO seminars.
