Form follows function: Black + Blum launches revolutionary dual-purpose bottle

Black + Blum, the award-winning London-based design company, has launched a new sustainably designed dual-purpose water bottle on Kickstarter.
The Eau Good Duo, made with Eastman Tritan copolyester, is the company’s latest original design, combining form, function and sustainability.
As today’s on-the-go consumers are no longer just concerned about the taste of their water but also the environmental impact of single-use bottles, re-usable bottles must therefore meet many requirements.
“Black + Blum is looking to celebrate naturally clean or infused tap water in a sustainable bottle, so consumers can enjoy proper hydration without a second thought,” says Black + Blum co-founder and lead designer Dan Black.
Naturally, with all the advantages of glass yet none of its disadvantages, Eastman Tritan copolyester was the preferred choice of material.
“Tritan’s durability and taste neutrality are two reasons we love the material. The fact that it is made without BPA, BPS or other harmful chemicals is another key factor for us,” says Black.
Additionally, Tritan’s unique mix of toughness and flexibility allowed Black + Blum to design a creative, secure seating in the bottle for Eau Good’s Binchotan charcoal filter stick which removes impurities, softens water and adds good minerals such as Calcium.
After 30 prototypes and nearly five alterations to the tool, Black + Blum perfected the shape – solving one of its biggest challenges. Eastman supported Black + Blum throughout the process of bringing the bottle to market, offering advice and technical Tritan expertise.
“Launching the Eau Good Duo on Kickstarter means that we can directly connect to our customers – allowing them to be the first to enjoy great-tasting, naturally filtered or infused water in an exclusive design”, adds Black. “We’re delighted to see such a fantastic response less than three weeks into the campaign.”
Well over a week before the 1 December 2017 deadline, this exclusive launch has already reached its financial target, proving that this is the ultimate water filter and infuser bottle the active hydration market has been waiting for.
