Wednesday 17. May 2017 - Innovations and Applications to Inspire Business Growth

Canon Europe, leader in imaging solutions, is showcasing its market-leading range of print solutions at FESPA 2017(Messe Hamburg, 8-12 May 2017), inspiring graphics producers with an array of opportunities to boost their productivity, expand their applications portfolio and access profitable new revenue streams.

Visitors to the Canon stand at FESPA (Hall A1, Stand B55) will witness the launch of the new 64-inch roll-to-roll Océ Colorado 1640 printer, built on Canon’s ground-breaking UVgel technology. [See separate release Canon Europe Ltd. announces revolutionary new technology that will transform wide format roll-to-roll printing]. Designed to eliminate the compromises inherent in prevailing roll-to-roll technologies, the Océ Colorado 1640 reinforces Canon’s long heritage of continuous innovation in digital wide-format printing. Through its product development, Canon has repeatedly redefined expectations of productivity, quality, applications versatility and cost of ownership, helping signmakers and graphics producers to transform their businesses.

Mark Lawn, Director, Graphic & Communications Group Canon Europe comments: “Truly inventive technology innovation such as Canon UVgel, driven by deep insights from real customer businesses, is critical to helping unleash print’s full potential. The new and established products we are bringing to FESPA 2017 play a vital role in maximising productivity and motivating customers to explore the commercial scope of different substrates and applications.”

FESPA 2017 also coincides with the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Océ Arizona series. This product range has accelerated the growth of thousands of wide-format print businesses by offering excellent flatbed quality at a price point which has made printing on rigid media and diversification into industrial and decorative print accessible to a broader community of PSPs and goods manufacturers. Across the Canon stand at FESPA 2017, print service providers (PSPs) and corporate companies operating in vertical markets such as décor and packaging, will find a broad spectrum of printed applications from the Océ Colorado 1640, Océ Arizona, Océ ColorWave and imagePROGRAF printers. Together, they reflect the immense variety of products being created by wide-format customers today, from POS and indoor and outdoor display graphics, to high-quality photographic and fine art prints, to interior décor and short-run promotional packaging. Visitors can also explore comprehensive applications ‘look-books’ for all technologies on the stand.

Visitors to the Canon stand can also see the DreamLabo production inkjet photo printer and the imagePRESS C750 sheetfed toner press in live production. In combination with the wide-format technologies on show, these illustrate how output from wide- and small-format devices can be blended to offer customers effective multi-channel communications, including items such as premium-quality photobooks and personalised campaign collateral.

With seamless workflow automation from online file submission to finishing becoming increasingly business-critical in today’s fast-turnaround environment, Canon will link production across the stand through integrated workflows comprising Canon and third-party solutions, including Digital StoreFront, ONYX Thrive, Océ AutoPilot, Océ ProCut, ERPA and Fotoba.

Finished applications from all the technologies on display will be brought together in a closely integrated beauty brand campaign, conveying the broad scope for PSPs to expand their product repertoire and extend their value proposition to customers. At FESPA 2017, Canon will also introduce two new printed ‘Think’ guides – Think Personal and Think Décor. The latest in a series of introductory guides to potentially lucrative growth opportunities, these have been created by Canon to support customers who may be considering diversification into these areas. They offer valuable insight into the key trends shaping these specialist markets, matched with practical guidance on how to break into these segments.

Mark Lawn concludes: “We’re here at FESPA 2017 to inspire customers with the enormous variety of incredible products they can create, and to share our expertise on how they can extend their service offering. Starting from an understanding of each PSP’s individual business aspirations, we’ll explore areas where they could consider new ways of working, showing them how fresh thinking around applications, supported by innovative technology and new approaches to add value to customers, can set them on a path to realising their goals. FESPA 2017 is the perfect place to start these conversations and demonstrate how Canon can be their guide through the next phase of their business evolution.”
