A pathway to success: Young label industry managers explore the route

Thursday 02. March 2017 - FINAT, the international labelling association, represents an industry that is, on almost every front, a centre for change. With its roots in the family-owned self-adhesive label companies established in the 1970s, the association is bringing together the industry’s younger generation for the fourth Global Young Managers Club Congress, taking place in Lisbon, 22-24 March.

This growing annual event is the result of the establishment of the FINAT Young Managers Club (YMC), FINAT’s initiative to address the challenges on both the technical and business management fronts that face second-generation and young newcomers to the label industry’s extended value chain.

Attracting delegates from across Europe and further afield, the FINAT Global Young Managers Club Congress this year is focused on ‘creating your pathway to success’. According to FINAT YMC President Dana Kilarska – herself the second-generation MD of Slovak label printers Purgina – “it represents a hub where young managers can learn business skills in the context of our special industry, and our closely-knit supply chain.”

Combining a Label Industry Young Talent Platform, expert speaker presentations, and interactive workshops with a lively programme of social events, the Congress agenda is designed to provide insights into current industry topics, issues, and opportunities; to increase delegates’ management skills; and to build an active global network of young managers working in this key aspect of the packaging industry.

Speakers contributing their expertise include Erik Joosten (NL), Founder and CEO of international healthcare pathfinders and innovators in both products and services Arion Group (NL); and Johannes Höfler (AT), creator of the Patent & Founders Factory, dedicated to transforming Austria into Europe’s leading business start-up nation.

Supported by the overarching information base of FINAT and affiliated regional and national label associations around the world, the FINAT Young Managers Club is, says President Kilarska, “delivering access to an ongoing source of focussed industry knowledge – for example on legislation, technology, and new markets. It is for sure the first step in creating your pathway to success.”
